As one of my goals for the New Year, I said I wanted to start a weight loss journey that worked for me. And I think I came up with it. I'm not a gym girl, I never have been. I tried it back in 2010, and it didn't last. It became something I dreaded doing, instead of something I liked to do... and I believe I've figured out the problem....
I don't like lifting weights and running on the treadmill.
I know that's not the only thing to do in a gym, but the entire gym atmosphere didn't vibe well with me either. The one thing I did like was taking classes. I loved the sense of community and the fact that it was, well FUN! So, my new weight loss journey will involve lots of music, and fun. I have about 6 workout videos I will be using over the next 6 months, and then from there we'll see. Here's a look at part one of my new journey:

For the next 3 weeks I will be doing Workout C on Cindy Crawford's "A New Dimension" workout tape. I like this DVD because it's a full body workout that's fun to do, yet challenging. It's a workout for people new to fitness, or women who have just had a baby.
This week I'm planning to do the workout twice... I'm hoping to work up to 4 times a week, by the end of phase one.

In addition to working out with Cindy, I also plan to integrate this Yoga for Beginners DVD. I'm very new to yoga. My doctor recommended some simple poses for me to help with an old back injury caused by a car accident years ago. Since starting it, my back has felt a lot better, and I feel really relaxed. So, as a treat for finishing rigorous workouts during the week, I will relax on Friday's (to start) with Yoga. I hope to work up to doing this DVD at least twice a week.
I'll let you know how I like the DVD.
In addition to getting into a daily workout routine, I would like to take my dog Khloe on a walk during rest days, and to the dog park during workout days to give her some much-needed exercise! I bet she would stop chewing up our things, or tearing up the wall by the front door if we did.
So there you have it, the beginning of my weight loss journey. I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing!
Do you have any weight loss goals or aspirations for the New Year? Have you put together a workout regimen? What are some of your favorite ways to workout?
on January 1st, I read this post by Michael Moore and his new-found journey to weightloss and it inspired me beyond belief to do what he's doing -- not because I need to lose weight, but because I really loved his idea and how it can transform a person. Your post reminded me of it -- how you're approaching your weightloss and what your goals are - so I thought I'd post it here for you in case it helps. Or if you find it cheesy and ridiculous, that's ok too ;)
